Who we are?

Central European Subregion of the World Student Christian Federation is an intercultural and ecumenical youth cooperation to build up paradigms of peace and reconciliation through dialogue, and to strengthen Central European identity before and after joining the European Union by mutual education, cooperation and cultural exchange.

Central European Subregion of the World Student Christian Federation is based on the models of other subregions of WSCF (Nordic and Southern). History of the WSCF ...

CESRThe student Christian movements of the four Visegrad countries are in different shape and levels of organisation after decades of socialism. With our cooperation we intend to help and strengthen one another to revitalize the civil society in our countries. By discovering the common roots in our history but also the enriching differences, we grow in the idea of Central Europe as a distinct identity. At the initial conference on Central European Identity and Ecumenism at the beginning of February 2002 Austria has joined the four Visegrad countries to strengthen the notion of Central European identity and cooperation.

Throughout the forthcoming years we have touched different important and hot issues which should have been and were debated among the students, the future Central European elite. For more on our common events see the section activities. By lectures, workshops, study visits and cultural events we try to share glimpses of our rich heritages and traditions, and to reflect to our preconceptions (sometimes prejudices) concerning the other nations and states. Being committed Christians, we see ecumenical Christianity as a powerful and even indispensable tool for rewriting our attitude towards each other in Central Europe. We believe that ecumenical dialogue, practised in the World Student Christian Federation for more than a centennium, is a meaningful model for encounters between traditions and identities in building a peaceful Middle Europe.
