September 20-25, 2010, Zajezova, Slovakia
Dear friends,
The Central European Subregion of the World Student Christian Federation warmly invites you to join the upcoming summer seminar focusing on ecological issues. Since individual responsibility for environment seems to be the solution in the context of unsustainable trends, the seminar will show that it is us, youth, who are to recognize the need to change our lifestyle for our better future. The seminar will raise awareness of the issue in European and global context and provide new information on how to combat climate change by adopting daily eco-lifestyle.
The conference will be held near city of Zvolen, in the village of Zajezova in the community "Society for Harmonious Living", a member of Global Ecovillage Network. The place itself will enable students to have a first-hand experience of the sustainable life provided by “Society for Harmonious Life”. The program will consist of educational parts mostly. Besides keynote lectures, other activities will include group discussions and workshops led by participants. We encourage you to consider sharing your gifts by organising a workshop on an aspect of the topic which is interesting to you. Aside from the thematic input, there will also be time for common prayer and worship, and of course for parties, movies, talks, humorous skits, and intercultural sharing. Finally, bringing the topic down to a very concrete level, an excursion is planned.
If you have a good knowledge of English and an interest in the topic, please send your application form to your country’s contact (listed below) by 28 August 2010. We anticipate 30 participants from Central European countries, but interested students from neighbouring countries are also encouraged to apply. All accommodation and board costs are covered by CESR; we ask only a participation fee of €15 (If this fee is too high, please contact your national movement about the possibility of a reduced fee. The fee will increase to €20 for applications are submitted after 20 August ). Travel costs for all participants from the five CESR countries will be fully reimbursed; travel reimbursements for participants from outside the subregion will be negotiated with the coordinator.
Accordingly, we ask you PLEASE to travel by the absolute cheapest means, which are environmentally friendly.
If you have any questions about the conference, please contact your national movement:
